Eugenikos, Mark

Eugenikos, Mark
   Metropolitan of Ephesus (qq.v.) and famous opponent of the union of the churches (q.v.) at the Council of Ferrara-Florence (q.v.); brother of John Eugenikos (q.v.). He attended the council, but he refused to sign the decree of union, for which he was imprisoned for two years. He was made a saint by the Orthodox Church in 1456.
